Hi Blake,
Would you be talking about Cifford the Big Red Dog. This is the first story that popped in my head. If you are those are some great clues for that book. I am also a student attending the University of South Alabama.

C4K #3: Cameron

I was assigned Cameron in Ms. Leatherwood's Language Art Class. Here is what Cameron posted in his blog,

Nature Is Amazing
"Cardinal’s are beautiful birds. They are know as family bird because they travel in flocks of 70 or more. When the female cardinal (shown in the picture) sings from the nest, it means her and the babies need food. The females and males sing, but the female sings more complex melodies. The males are strong and very protective. They could fight their own reflection for hours. They love to live in bird houses and eat out of bird feeders. They get the name “backyard birds” from this. Their diets consist of seeds, beetles, grasshoppers, and many other insects."

Wow, Cameron. That is amazing. I never knew that about Cardinals. They seem like very complex birds.

C4K #4: Alyssa

I was assigned Alyssa from Joliet West High School in Illinois in Mrs. Maslowski class. Here is what Alyssa posted in her blog,

Black History Month
Gabrielle Union is a inspiring black woman in the industry. She is a successful actress who has starred in many movies such as “Bring It On” and “Bad Boys II”. She also right now has a show called “Being Mary Jane” that comes on BET which in my opinion teaches real life lessons. Union is a inspiring person to the people due to her being involved with the communities and giving back to the world. I personally like Gabrielle because watching in movies and television shows makes me want to do something with my person life even though I’m not inspiring to be a actress

Project #8 Book Trailer

Blog Post #6

I enjoyed getting to know more about Project Based Learning, while watching the provided videos of Dr. Strange and Mr. Capps conversations. Project Based Learning is all about getting students excited to learn. Project Based Learning is our future. We need to better embody the ways to teach by utilizing PBL methods and ideas. I feel like students as well as teachers learn more as well as being more engaged and interested in what they are doing. PBL get students excited about learning and what they create. The goal of a good project is one that has an authentic audience and keeps the students motivated to create good work. Content driven is also a good component of a good PBL project as well as projects that interests students.
doing projects vs. project based learning
Also teachers should use technology to also allow students to share what they are doing. Don't expect perfection, and let the students have time to reflect on their work so next time they will do it better. Teachers should also use the technology themselves so they can understand the questions students will ask. It is also a way for teachers to get students to need to learn what they are required to know. It is important to set goals when creating a project such as; having an authentic audience, student interest, and having choices for the students. Making sure everything that is done in the classroom is meaningful not only to the teacher but to the students also.

Blog Post #5 Personal Learning Network

A PLN (Personal Learning Network) is a network of people and tools you can use to get help, collaborate ideas, or use for consultation. If you have accounts with Twitter, Facebook, Skype, A personal blog, ETC; then you have your own personal learning network.
personal learning network
As a teacher, it's important to have a network, people to share ideas and thoughts with, and get help from. People that will be important in a PLN will also be the teachers and classmates and sometimes even the students whose blogs we read and comment on weekly. There's so much out there we can use to network, thousands of people and millions of resources.

C4T #1- Project 4 Post 1&2

Post #1: In my comment for teacher writing, I was assigned Two Writing Teachers. This is a blog where many teachers blog. For my first comment I chose to read a "Compliment Conference" by Elizabeth Moore. The post was about how to give good compliments and how important giving compliments are. I really enjoyed her view on this and reading some of her ideas on how to give compliments.

My Comment: I really loved your compliment points. It is really important to give them feedback especially positive. It helps build their self esteem

Post #2: For my second post I chose to read "Starting With Talk and Breaking Through The Barriers" by Betsy Hubbard. This blog post was all about breaking through barriers when you begin to write or talk to someone. This is a problem that some students and also adults have. Mrs. Betsy addressed this problem by opening up with a story.

My Comment: I love this post. I never thought about this as a way to break the ice. I have trouble with public speaking sometimes, and this is a great way open up and start a speech or writing. It makes you feel comfortable and safe and also gets your audience attention.

Post #4 What questions do we ask? How do we ask?

Asking Questions: What questions do we ask? How do we ask?

This is a very good question. As teachers we are known to ask questions, but if the questions we ask aren't clear or on topic then they aren't helping our students. We have to be specific in what we are asking them for. Sometimes simply changing the phrasing in a question can make a world of difference for students.

We can't expect them to give us detailed information, when we asked a closed ended question. As teachers we have to spend time preparing questions to ask our students just like we prepare the lesson plan and everything else. We also should be aware of the different techniques they use when asking questions. I feel like asking the right questions at the right time in the class is a great tool for teachers to monitor student's understanding.

Project #15 Search Engines

Here is my list for 8 different search engines. I have taken time to try each of these out or explore them in some way. I have included the links and a described how they can be used and how they are useful.

1.Go-to : For Go-To I searched for "wedding dresses" resulting in a list of wedding dress shops popping up. It was really good. I liked the fact that the most popular and most up to date shops popped up.

2. Lycos : For this search engine, I searched for the "Mardi Gras" bringing up a number of different Mardi Gras things from dresses to invitations. I really liked the set up, really appreciated it told me where I was and the temperature outside as soon as I pulled it up. This website it was very easy to you and I would use it again.

3. NationalGeographic Kids : This seems to be a great search engine for kids. They can search, find pictures, play games, and learn about the world. It also seems to be filtered pretty great.

4. Pipl : Is a search engine used to find people. I did not like this search engine at all. The fact that I could type my name and it told me what my street name was back in my hometown. I don't think that is very safe and I think the website should be taking down.

5. RefSeek : is a search engine that will search through newspapers, books, encyclopedias, journals and webpages.

6. DuckDuckGo : This search engine would be most useful searching for general topics It was created for users to search and not be tracked, and it also does not take or share any personal information from its users.

7. Wolframalpha : Wolframalpha is useful for mathematics, world facts, and data. It is really useful because it provides specific information on the topic you are searching for.

8. TeacherTube : TeacherTube as you can see in the title is a great search engine for videos, photos, and documents for teachers. It is really safe and you don't have to worry about unwanted things popping up when you type something in the search bar like on youtube. It is very educational and student friendly.

Blog Post #3 What is Peer Editing?

What is Peer Editing?
What do you think is the best way to approach peer editing?
How will you peer edit your classmates blog posts in EDM 310.
What is the importance of peer editing

Peer editing, is when you and another person in your class get together and look and correct each others paper. Both of the videos went over very important rules to peer editing. I can remember peer editing in high school and the rules were never told to me, and looking back I can say I did a lot of thing wrong. I think the best way to approach peer editing is stay always stay positive. You never want to be rude and start right off the bat with saying all the wrong things your peer did in their paper. When you start like that you and that person get off on the wrong foot and things will never go well from there.
Cartoon of students peer editing

I think that it is very important that we peer edit in EDM 310, because we do some much writing and it would be nice to know what we're doing wrong and what we could improve on. At least I would like to know because knowing were you're lacking and correcting your mistakes will only make you a better writer in the long run. The importance of peer editing, I think, is to learn how to take circumstance well. We all need to learn how to take positive circumstance well if we are going to survive in this life.
